Gmail, Yahoo, Microsoft Setup for Notifications

Microsoft Outlook SMTP server support in Aranet base station configuration is deprecated from March 1, 2026. For advanced authentication, either an individual SMTP server or Google SMTP is an option.

Gmail

  1. For the Aranet base station to properly authorise to the Gmail server, you have to enable 2-step verification on the necessary account: https://myaccount.google.com/signinoptions/two-step-verification/enroll-welcome

  1. Confirm the operation with your password.

  2. Set up the configuration for the phone that you are using:

  1. Confirm that the connection with the phone is valid:

  1. Turn on 2-step verification for your Gmail account:

  1. Go to the address: https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords and create a new password for Aranet base station authorization to the Google Mail server, selecting app = Mail and device = Other (Custom name)

  1. Enter the name for the configuration and press the GENERATE button:

  1. Copy the generated app password from the opened window:

  1. Enter your e-mail and copied password in the section System --> Notifications --> EMAIL in the Aranet base station graphical interface, save the configuration, and test it by pressing the TEST CONNECTION button:

Microsoft Outlook

SMTP server support in Aranet base station configuration is deprecated from March 1, 2026.

  1. For the Aranet base station to properly authorise to the Microsoft server, you have to enable 2-step verification on the necessary account: https://account.live.com/proofs/EnableTfa

Or by clicking on Security -> Two-step verification

  1. Choose your way to second confirmation (e.g., Microsoft Authenticator):

Follow the instructions until it's done, and you see this.

  1. By clicking 'Next', you will be able to see the instructions page with the 'How to create a new app password' part:

  1. Click on Security basics -> Advanced security options:

  1. Find the section 'App password' and click on 'Create a new app password':

  1. Write down the generated password:

  1. Go to the base station settings.

  2. Enter your e-mail and copied password in the section System --> Notifications --> EMAIL in the Aranet base station graphical interface, save the configuration, and test it by pressing the TEST CONNECTION button:

Yahoo

  1. For the Aranet base station to log in with the Yahoo! server, you must enable 2-step verification on the necessary account. For that, log in to your email at https://mail.yahoo.com and click on Account info:

  1. Now click on Account Security and scroll down until you reach ACCOUNT ACCESS:

  1. Click on Turn on 2SV to enable the 2-step verification:

  1. Now click on Get Started and make sure you have your personal phone with you:

  1. For this example, click on Phone number:

  2. Set up the configuration for the phone that you are using. It will automatically show the number that is linked to the account, confirmed by clicking on it or selecting a different number:

  1. You will receive a code to the phone number provided, enter it in the squares shown, and confirm that the connection with the phone is valid:

  1. Confirm the process was successful by noticing the 2-Step Verification method is ON. Now generate an App Password for Aranet base station authorization to the Yahoo Mail server:

  1. Click on Get Started:

  1. Enter the name for the configuration and press the Generate Password button:

  1. Copy the generated app password from the opened window and use it to log into the app:
