Using a Cellular Modem

Options to provide SMS notification functionality for Aranet base station

1. Use a LTE router connected to Aranet base station via an Ethernet cable, i.e. MikroTik wAP LTE kit.
2. Use a USB modem connected directly to the Aranet base station. The following USB modems are compatible:

   1. Hologram NOVA-U201 only 3G/2G version (available from Digikey or Mouser)
   2. HUAWEI E3131i;
   3. HUAWEI E3531i – 2 (requires a PIN);
   4. MEDIA-TECH MT4219;
   5. VODAFONE K4305;
   6. Huawei E8372h-608 (version E8372h-320 is not COMPATIBLE);
   7. Huawei E3531s-6;
   8. LC-GSM-SIM800C-2.

Note that the USB cellular modem can be used ONLY for SMS sending – it can not be simultaneously used also to provide an Internet connection for the Aranet base.
