SIM Card Handling and LTE

SIM card handling

The recommendation is that before removing the SIM card from the base station, all of the LTE configuration fields must be cleared, the LTE connection disabled, and the SAVE button must be pressed.

Otherwise, there is a potential risk of blocking the SIM card inserted into the Aranet Pro Plus LTE base. The issue does not apply to Onomondo or 1oT SIM cards but to third-party SIM cards. The base station saves the last entered SIM PIN, and if the SIM card is changed, and the base is booted, the previous (invalid) PIN will be used/sent upon booting the station up. It is unclear how many times this is done, but the incorrect PIN can be used to initialise the SIM, and a moderately high risk of blocking it.

Activating a global roaming SIM

To activate your Aranet Cloud Connectivity Service SIM card on the Aranet Pro Plus LTE base, follow these steps:

  1. Install the SIM card. For the precise installation process, please see the topic: Pro Plus Base Station. Where the procedure of SIM card installation is explained.

  2. Enable the LTE connection in the Aranet base station's web interface.

  3. Enter the word onomondo into the APN field. (in other cases terminal.apn)

  4. Save the changes.

  5. Power restart the base.

  6. Wait a few minutes for the SIM card to register with the mobile network.

That's it! Your SIM card should now be activated and ready to use on the Aranet Pro Plus LTE base for Aranet Cloud connectivity.
