# Connecting the Base Station to the Network

Use this page to connect an Aranet Pro/Pro Plus base station to your network. Use Ethernet when possible. It is the most reliable option.

You configure all interfaces under **SYSTEM > NETWORK**. See [Network](/base-stations/base-stations/web-interface/overview/system/network.md) for field definitions and factory defaults.

### Ethernet (recommended)

If your network has a DHCP server, the base station will usually be online right away. Ask your network admin if you are unsure.

#### Connect the Ethernet cable

**Aranet Pro Plus**

Connect the base station to a PoE injector **OUT** port. You can use [TDAPOE03](https://aranet.com/en/pro/products/ieee-802_3af-poe-injector-for-aranet-pro-plus-base-station). You can also connect it to a PoE-enabled switch. Wait until the **Ethernet** LED is on.

**Aranet Pro**

Connect the **LAN** port to your router or switch. Check that the **LAN** LED is on.

#### Configure Ethernet settings

1. Open **SYSTEM > NETWORK**.
2. Select the **ETHERNET** tab.
3. Choose one option:
   * **DHCP client** (default and recommended)
   * **Static IP** (only if required by your network policy)
4. If you use **Static IP**, fill in:
   * IP address
   * Subnet mask
   * Default gateway
   * DNS server
5. Click **Save**.

#### Verify the connection

Check the IP address shown in the Ethernet section. Check the Globe symbol.

DHCP leases can change over time. Use a DHCP reservation if you need a stable address. Use the interface MAC address for the reservation.

### Wi-Fi (client mode)

Use Wi-Fi when Ethernet is not available. You can configure Wi-Fi while connected to the base station Wi-Fi access point.

If you lose access during setup, reconnect to the base station access point. Then open `http://192.168.206.100`.

#### Switch Wi-Fi to Client mode

1. Open **SYSTEM > NETWORK**.
2. Select the **WIFI** tab.
3. Set **Mode** to **Client**.

#### Select the network and enter credentials

1. Under **Select from this list or input manually**, choose your Wi-Fi SSID.
2. Choose the required **Encryption/Security** type.
3. Enter the Wi-Fi password.
4. Note the Wi-Fi interface **MAC address** (useful for DHCP reservations).
5. Choose IP assignment:
   * **DHCP** (recommended)
   * **Static IP** (advanced)
6. Click **Save**.

Most Wi-Fi routers have DHCP enabled by default. Keep DHCP unless you have a strong reason to use Static IP.

#### Reconnect and find the new IP address

After you click **Save**, the page may reload. If you were connected to the base station access point, the connection will drop.

1. Connect your PC to the same Wi-Fi network you selected.
2. Wait until the base station finishes connecting (watch the Wi-Fi LED activity).
3. Find the IP address assigned by DHCP:
   * Check your router’s DHCP lease list.
   * Or ask your network admin.
   * Or scan the subnet with a network scanner.

Scanner examples:

Typical workflow:

* Scan the same subnet your PC is connected to.
* Locate the base station by the MAC address you noted earlier.
* Use the shown IP address to open the WebGUI.

#### Open WebGUI and confirm connectivity

Open the base station IP address in a browser. Log in to WebGUI. Confirm the Globe symbol shows connectivity.

### LTE (Aranet Pro Plus LTE only)

The **LTE** menu appears only when the modem is detected. Insert a mini-size GSM SIM card with a mobile data plan. The SIM card is not included.

Mobile data may create extra costs. Those costs are not covered by Aranet.

If you bought the Aranet Cloud Connectivity Service (P/N `TDLCLCS0100G` or `TDLCLCS010RG`), contact `support@aranet.com`. Provide the SIM EID, base station S/N, and the country of use.

#### Configure LTE

1. Open **SYSTEM > NETWORK** and select the **LTE** section.
2. Enable LTE.
3. Fill in **APN** (mandatory).
4. Fill in other fields if required by your provider.
5. Click **Save**.

#### Verify the connection

Wait for the settings to take effect. A page reload may be required.

A successful connection is indicated by:

* an IP address assigned to LTE
* the Globe symbol with no crossover

For remote access over LTE, request a static IP address from your mobile provider.

Static-IP LTE setup may differ from dynamic LTE setup. Check the required parameters with your mobile provider.

Before removing the SIM card, clear the LTE fields. Disable LTE and click **Save**. Otherwise, the SIM card may get blocked.
